Careers Learning

Careers Related Learning at Nine Acres Primary School

At Nine Acres, we are dedicated to introducing and implementing a careers related learning programme to benefit all students.

Vision:

At Nine Acres, we strive to equip our learners with the knowledge, skills and motivation needed to succeed in the ever changing world of work. We challenge pupils to aim high in shaping their own future successfully with excitement and endurance.

Strategic Objectives:

Our planning focuses on four key areas to ensure a wide coverage of careers that allows pupils to be open minded and aspirational when planning for their future.

  1. Reducing bias and challenging stereotypes

  2. Linking careers in the curriculum

  3. Increasing meaningful employer encounters

  4. Engaging parents and carers

Aims:

  • To instil essential skills needed to succeed in life such as listening, speaking, problem solving, creativity, staying positive, aiming high, leadership and teamwork

  • To provide meaningful experiences and interactions with a wide range of career areas

  • To highlight the link between skills and knowledge in all curriculum learning and future career areas, motivating pupils to work hard

  • To challenge stereotypes and misconceptions present when thinking about careers

  • To ensure Year 6 pupils leave our school with a good knowledge of education and career choices for their future

  • To develop a sense of excitement and ambition towards the future

  • To ensure pupils understand and demonstrate the essential skills and attitudes needed to be successful in the world of work

Visitors are regularly invited into school to talk to children across year groups about their profession or career area, and pupils are given the opportunity to think about places of work when on a range of school trips.

At Nine Acres, our aim is to ensure that children are given a wide range of experiences and exposure to help them think about shaping their future with excitement and motivation.
